Our Class groups
Our preschool runs 2 classrooms a day with either 2 or 3 day class groups. Our classes are:
• Possums: Monday, Tuesday
• Possums: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• Stingrays: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
• Stingrays: Thursday, Friday
(We are sorry but we do not accommodate other day groupings e.g.,: a Tuesday and Thursday or 5 days of care)
Daily routine
Every day offers something new for our children; however we do have a daily routine to provide structure to their days.
The average child’s day would involve:
Arrival
8.30-9.00am. Parent signs child in. Child washes hands, places hat on peg outside, morning tea, water bottle and bag in locker and lunch in fridge. Greet teachers.
Outside play Various outside activities are enjoyed by our children. These include a bike track, sandpit, fort structure, slippery dip and outdoor drums. Other activities might include dress ups, balance games, and craft activities and group play.
Inside play Various activities are organised for our children’s enjoyment and learning. These activities are changed regularly to reflect various themes the class might be learning about and to keep busy minds active. These include craft, puzzle play, books, home corner, block corner, painting and play dough etc. Group time includes stories, singing, dancing, yoga and themed discussions.
Meals We strongly encourage children to bring and enjoy only healthy and nutritious food and drink to Kindergarten. The centre is a NUT AWARE CENTRE. Foods containing nuts or traces of nuts can not be consumed at the centre due to health and allergy reasons.
Morning tea Children bring their own morning tea in a separate container to their lunch box.
Lunch Children are to bring their own lunch and cool drink. The centre recommends that lunch be brought in a small lunch box or bag that can be placed in the class refrigerator.
Drinks Children can help themselves to water throughout the day and if they like bring their own healthy drink for lunch.
Rest time All children are required to have a 'quiet' time during the day after lunch between 1:00pm and 1:45pm. This is to meet the children's developmental and physical needs.
Pick up 3.00-4.00pm. Parent picks up child. Sign out child, pack bag, including craft activities. Say goodbye to teachers.
Clothing Families are encouraged to dress their child appropriately (comfortable, functional and safe). Suitable shoe wear must be worn so that child can manage outdoor equipment (thongs and clogs etc. are unsuitable). A hat must be brought to preschool in all seasons. No hat, no play policy applies. Sunscreen is supplied by the preschool and is applied by parents in the morning and then throughout the day as part of our daily routine.
Children's requirements Small backpack containing: spare clothing, broad-brimmed hat, small hand towel, morning tea box, lunch box & drink bottle, 1 draw string bag or pillow case with 2 piece cot-sized sheet set (1 fitted sheet and 1 flat sheet). All items MUST be clearly labelled with your child's name.
